APBS RULES & CODE OF CONDUCT

Preamble: These codes are designed to briefly inform students of academic policies and rules of conduct applicable at Avicenne Private Business School.

 

1-         To be accepted to the Undergraduate Program (Duration of Bachelor Program is 3 years), the student must hold a Tunisian or international high school diploma (baccalaureate) recognized by the Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Students who wish to be admitted for the second or third years of study of the undergraduate program are obliged to follow the procedure of transferring their credits, which is explained in paragraph 2.7 of the Academic Manual. The student must also provide the IELTS certificate with the minimum of 6.0 or equivalent international certification (TOEIC min 750, TOEFL min 60, etc.); in case such certification is not available APBS will give student a period of 1 year after enrollment to obtain it. Otherwise, he/she will be transferred to the respective French Program the following year. For admission to the 3rd year of an English program, the student must provide IELTS or equivalent.

 

2-        To be admitted to the Graduate Program (Duration of Master Program is 2 years), the student must hold a Bachelor Diploma issued by an academic institution recognized by the Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Students who wish to be admitted for the second year of study of the graduate program are obliged to follow the procedure of transferring their credits, which is explained in paragraph 2.7 of the Academic Manual. The student must also provide IELTS certificate 6.5 or equivalent international certification (TOEIC min 750, TOEFL min 60, etc.); in case such certification is not available APBS will give student a period of 1 year after enrollment to obtain it. Otherwise, he/she will be transferred to the respective French Program the following year. A student who has not completed required number of courses in economics, finance, management or equivalent during his undergraduate studies is required to undertake an additional preparatory training which is to be scheduled by the Administration, in order to be enrolled in a Master degree.

 

3-        To be officially accepted to APBS, the student must provide all the documents requested in the admission form (this form must be signed at the time of registration) and at least the first installment of tuition fees must be paid (for the 1st semester).

 

4-        All newly enrolled students must take “placement tests” in order to assess the level at which student enters the program and attend APBS orientation day organized by the Administration, where the necessary information about APBS rules, school life, and events will be provided

 

5-        During his/her studies each student is required to complete an annual internship in a company with the duration of at least 1 month. This practice allows students to have an insight into real work environment and practically apply acquired theoretical knowledge.

 

6-        Students of the 3rd year of Bachelor Programs have the choice to undergo a graduation project or thesis. Students of the 2nd year of Master Programs must complete an internship report with a minimum duration of at least 14 weeks as explained in paragraph 2.11 of the Academic Manual.

 

7-        Attendance of all courses is compulsory. The maximum tolerable absence rate is 30% for each course per semester. If exceeded, the student is automatically eliminated from the main semester examination; they will be given the chance to attend the second exam session. Absences can the justified only in cases of severe illness, surgical procedure, or a death of a parent; medical records or other proofs have to be provided. If the course is assessed only through midterm exams (100% of continuous assessment, no final examination) and consists of 21h or 42h, the student will be eliminated in case of 3 or 6 absences respectively.

 

8-        Students who are late for more than 15min are restricted to enter the classroom. Après 15 minutes de retard, l’étudiant n’est plus admis en salle de cours.

 

9-        Any unjustified absence of an assignment is marked by the grade of zero.

 

10-      All students must attend the main examination session (except cases when the student is eliminated). In case of absence, the student will be automatically assigned a grade of zero, and if his/her GPA is equal or higher than 10/20, he/she will not have the right to take the re-sit session. If requested, student can sit for a course he/she was eliminated from at the main session to validate credits.

 

11-      Every student should meet educational requirements of course attendance rate, training sessions and catching up sessions scheduled by the Administration.

 

12-      Students are not allowed to sit for an exam if the tuition fees are not paid fully in time.

 

13-      Any appeals, proceedings or other claims must be made in time and according to the procedures specified in paragraphs 2.18 and 2.19 of the Academic Manual.

 

14-      To be admitted to the next class, the student must have both AGPA (Average Grading Point) and CGPA (Cumulative Grading Point) of 10/20 or above. To graduate, students must have a cumulative GPA of 10/20 or above for the whole higher education cycle as well as complete and submit the internship report.

 

15–      A student wishing to voluntarily withdraw from APBS should write a letter explaining reasons, and signed submit to the Office of registrar. Students are obliged to pay annual fees even if they withdraw prior to the start of classes.

 

16-    A student’s absence for a period of two consecutive semesters will result in his/her file being deactivated automatically. He should follow the procedure of readmission, which does not give the guarantee of positive decision.

 

17-      Committing any kind of fraud or plagiarism during tests, exams, or throughout studies will result in disciplinary measurements decided by the board.

 

18-      It is strictly forbidden to come to school dressed inappropriately (in panties, night-dress, etc.).

 

19-      I hereby authorize APBS to disclose my personal information to my Sponsor or Tutor / J’autorise par le présent document APBS à communiquer mes informations personnelles à mon Sponsor ou mon tuteur.

 

20-      APBS has the right to withdraw programs with less than 5 enrolled students.

 

21-      This contract is renewed automatically on a yearly basis for the next academic year, unless one of the parties withdraws in written before August 31st of each year.
